Whitmore Circle
44 UNITS · SENIOR HOUSING · ACQUISITION/REHABILITATION
Whitmore Circle Apartments (WCA), a 44 unit elderly affordable community located in Wahiawa, Hawaii consists of four two-story residential buildings. The 41 one-bedroom units and 3 two-bedroom units were built in 1990, and the property has laundry and community facilities. All 44 units have FMHA rental assistance available and were originally developed with Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
The main objective behind acquisition of this project was to preserve affordable housing for long-term occupancy by low-income tenants. WCA was at-risk of being converted into market rate rental housing because the project was no longer bound by affordable housing restrictive use provisions. By purchasing this project, AHE has ensured the elderly tenants will have a newly-renovated, affordable place to live for 61 more years.
